PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) ? Scientists say they've discovered a new species of bird in Cambodia, not in some remote jungle but in the country's capital.
A statement released Wednesday by the New York-based Wildlife Conservation Society said the wren-sized Cambodian tailorbird lives in dense, humid lowland scrub in Phnom Penh and other locations just outside the city.
The bird is gray in color with a brownish-red cap and black throat. The statement said only one other bird species is unique to Cambodia, the Cambodian laughingthrush, found only in the remote Cardamom mountain range.Associated Press
